CARD 9 VULNERABILITY (rose): Notice and give thanks to someone who has shown their vulnerability to you.
Notes from the artist: Like all flowers, roses are such a strong reminder of impermanence. But for some reason to me, roses in particular also carry in them a lesson about vulnerability. The vulnerability of a rose in bloom feels like the act of opening our hearts with the intent to be willing to show up and unfold in our lives in the truest and most beautiful way despite the risks involved. The petals falling are a reminder that our time is finite, our wounds are real, and that despite them, in the words of Julian of Norwich and later by T.S. Eliot, “All shall be well”.
Aren’t we better off in our lives by showing our vulnerability and recognizing when others show theirs? It feels like one of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves and others.
